Christian Leadership School C.O.P.P. Courses and Congress Courses

The 2022 Auburn District Congress will have two distinct course offerings. First, the National Baptist Convention accredited Christian Leadership School will offer Certificate Of Progress Program (C.O.P.P.) courses. These courses are for those who desire to seek C.O.P.P. certification or for anyone who wants to increase their level of Christian Education. Secondly, the district will offer Congress Courses which are not part of the C.O.P.P. program but are locally curated to help Messengers, both adults and children, grow through Christian Education. Course registration forms can be downloaded from the Auburn District Website: www.auburndistrict.org.

The Auburn District Missionary Baptist Congress of Christian Education, which was organized in 1856, will be certified and accredited by our parent body The National Baptist Convention ISA, Inc. (NBC) through its Sunday School Publishing Board (SSPB) and Division of Christian Education Certification and Accreditation (DCECA) in March 2015, by hosting the District’s first certified and accredited Christian Leadership School (CLS).

Certificate of Progress Program

The Certificate of Progress Program, organized at the Sunday School Publishing Board in 1937, was designed to produce qualified teachers that would lead church members into the twenty-first century.

Dr. Marshall A. Talley has been credited as the person that instituted the COP Program. In 1978, Dr. Amos Jones, Jr., undertook the leadership of the COP Program to take it to new heights.
